1935 Motorbike tire fit

Hi!

I'm about to buy new tire for my 1935 CCM Motorbike. The worned out tire are 700x38c (28 x 1-1/2) and I wonder if someone ever tried to fit 700x50c ( 28 x 2" )

From my aproximation ( me fudgin' around with a tape) it would be a TIGHT fit...

I ran "Fat Franks" ivory tires on one of my early CCM Roadsters and they were something like 700 X 50. It worked out O.K. butthe wheels have to be perfectly true to prevent rubbing. Slightly smaller tires are available from European Ebay sites (especially Deutschland). If you search on these sites you should be careful to avoid the English designated 28 X 1 1/2 tires.

Would 50's interfere with fenders? Seems like they would.

I had standard CCM fenders on my roadster with the "Fat Franks". It ran for many miles.

I run Surly Knards 700x41. They fit nice, leave a bit of clearance and give a bit of a mad max max appearance.

So ther's 4 Schwalbe little big ben in the mail. A pair of 38c and a pair of 2"... as soon as I have installed those I will let you know.

Little Big Bens in a 700x40 will work  with fenders   can't see it with 700x50

This isn't a motorbike  but forks will probably be spaced the same this has 700x50s

The wheels on this bike are very true and I had to do my little sledge hammer trick at the crown to make these fit.

They are also snug in the rear chainstays .

Just went out and checked my CCM Columbia motorbike it's fork is the same width and the fender measures just under 50 in width .

I have little big bens on one of my other bikes and love them but have also had good luck with Electra Amsterdam Tires

and they do not have all the reflective stripes and lettering .

They come in 700x40  .
