1940's front hub

Are the cups replaceable in a 1947 front hub?

My hub is stamped made in Germany and cups are very galled.

Does anyone have cups if replaceable or a nice shiny hub in good shape?

Thanks for any help

Rob

On further investigation the hub on my 47 roadster has a front Union hub, made in Germany, which has what appears to be cups for the bearings pressed into the hub. Painted Maroon/Burgundy with white pinstriped rims

My 48 loop frame bike has CCM C48199 stamped onto the center of the hub.Axle and cones also stamped CCM. The CCM hubs do not have cups. Chrome rim with red and white painted center.

Another CCM hub I have on a 28 inch chrome rim is just stamped CCM, no number.

The Union hubs I have the cones do not have lock nuts where as the CCM hubs do.

The cone width on the Union hub is wider than the CCM cone and Union hubs have a dust/ grease seal.

I was going to lace an NOS painted rim to a Union hub from a 53 CCM donor bike when I discovered the cups were very galled. The outside chrome was mint, the project came to a halt.

Living in Calgary there isn't an abundance of older CCM bikes for parts.

Anyone who would like to sell a front hub in nice condition please contact me at 56belvedere@gmail.com

Thank you

Can you post a photo to show the type of hub you're looking for?

Thanks for the replies, a hub is on its way "in the mail."
