Circa 1915 CCM Cleveland Model 436

(FYI, I also posted this on the Vintage CCM Facebook page.  Posting here as well since search engines are more likely to pick up non-FB information.)

Circa 1915 CCM Cleveland Model 436

Serial: 904435

Lower portion of head badge reads:
   Canada Cycle & Motor Co.
   Toronto, ONT

I picked up this rusticle last summer south of Smith Falls, Ontario. The guy who had it rescued it from an old brick "mansion" (as the locals called the place) that was slated to be torn down across the road from where he lives.

Just prior to demolition, he asked the foreman if there was anything inside worth saving. "Just junk, but you're welcome to look around." He went in & saved this bike.

Based info posted in this FB group, VintageCCM.com, and various other forums, I believe it's a 1915 vintage.

Surprisingly, it was rideable as-is... barely! It needs work: one slightly loose crank arm; headset bearings need attention, etc. The rear wheel is not original, but the front wheel may be. Pedals & handle bar grips are replacements. Not sure about the fenders. (I've seen pictures of several other Clevelands of the same vintage with the same fenders.)

The frame appears to consist of 100% rust, but there IS paint on it! It may be bronze-ish/brown in colour, contributing to that impression.

My goal is just to sort out the mechanical issues, re-cover the saddle & ride it around town.
