Massey Harris Restorations

Hi all, I have neen restoring bicycles from 1893 to present primarily for a display at a Motor Museum of bicycles related to the Melbourne to Warrnabool Road Race in Victoria Australia, the 2nd oldest one day race incthe world. My earliest is 1897 and most recent 2011.

recently I was gifted 4 Massey Harris bicycles, dating from 1899 to 1905 I believe, they are in generally good condition and will restore beautifully. I have lots of questions and would also like to share each reatoration over time.

so for now its a short hello from Downunder

Regards David Francis

really looking forward to seeing the bikes, Masseys are great bikes, and very valuable to collectors in the USA and Canada

please post on thecabe.com under the International bicycle tread : https://thecabe.com/forum/index/international-bicycles.68/

they is a lot more traffic there and pictures will be a lot easier to post

Hi David

That is quit a gift.  I think the green bike is a 1899 model #7 Special Racer.I have always wondered about the head badge on Austrailian Massey Bikes that only have 2 turns on them and Don,t say where there made. I have had a few Masseys  Harris bikes over the years and have restored about 8 of them. Always looking for a Model 7 Special Racer.

Questions just ask and i will try and help Regards Dave Brown

if you ever decide to sell those very valuable bicycles, PM me and I will give you the contact information of the 2 largest collectors in the USA

they would probably be very interested in those bicycles and would pay very well

Hi all, thanks for the welcome.

I just registered for The Cabe and will take your advice on posting there. I did notice activity on this site is sparce.

The bikes include Model 6 and 7 special racer and a Silver Ribbon 102 and 18.

The plan for the bikes is to restore all and keep only the Model 7 Special Racer for my private Musum as it represents the winning bike 1901 Melbourne to Warrnambool road race.

Again thanks and I will see you all on the Cabe, Dave
