Dave    are you sure that is a 33   looks more like  1953.   Ron

I also don't think this is a 1933 as I have a 33 CCM Catalogue which does not show  a Balloon  tire bike.

I agree with Dave and Ron.  It has a post war head badge which looks original to the bike.  Probably a typo.

The serial # is 9v3350.  Maybe someone could help me with the proper year then?   Dave

I just put a new photo on the ad showing the serial #      Dave

Given that the serial number starts '9V', is there a possibility that this is a 1949 model? The year 1948 had the 'xT' prefix and under the old system the next year's sequence would have started 'xV'. It's possible that some employees were not aware that management had changed the serial number format and dropped the T, W, X and Z alpha characters. Alternately, it's also possible that CCM made the decision to change the format after the start of 1949 and this is an early 1949 model. Finally, an employee could simply have grabbed the wrong alpha stamp, and it could be another year, like 1948.

I don't think this one is 1950s, based on my limited knowledge of CCM from this era. While the subject headbadge uses the 1950s shape, it utilizes the perforated logo. I though this particular combination was post war but pre 1950s?

It's also been my understanding that CCM changed the frame design in 1950, with the head tube now incorporating wide lug collars and the stays being brazed to the seat lug, as opposed to being attached via the binder bolt. The OP's frame has neither of these features, suggesting it is pre-1950.

The fork truss is not rhe pre-war version consisting of straight tubes which change angle at the headset bracket but the later curved version without the bracket. I'm not sure exactly when this was introduced but it may be another clue to the exact age, if it is OEM.

Overall, the evidence would seem to suggest that it is a mis-stamped, late1940s model, probably from 1948 or 1949. Unfortuantely, I do not have literature from this era to substantiate my suspicions. Perhaps some other forum member can corroborate them.

I think you may be onto something there T-Mar (you really should have been a detectivesmiley)

Here is the page from the 1948 catalogue. Unfortunately I don't have  a '49.

Thanks for everyone's help with this. I would change the title of this ad if I knew how to state it's 1948-1949..   Dave

I'm not sure if there is a way to edit a Kijiji ad. Of course, you could always delete the current ad and place a new one with the revised date.

Which brings up another but related subject. Is there any way to edit a forum post after you've submitted it? I often miss typos, syntax errors, etc. when I'm doing my proofread.

The X "V" XXXX issue was touched on a year or so ago; I could not find it in the forums.  I have 2 stamped with the "V"  I have taken the same line of thought as T Mar, putting the bike from 48 to 50.  I believe that 1950 was the last year for the perforated HB, I have one.  Cheers

I agree totaly with Wayne and Tmar as I have a 1947 wih the kinked truss rods and I also have a 1948 or 1949 if we call it as it has the "V" serial number as well. It`s identical to Johns catalogue page .
