CCM Galaxie year thoughts and questions

Good day! I purchase this bike because of the shifter to be honest. But was pleasantly surprised at the condition so I will probably keep it intact. I've seen a few around online and am just curious if there's any literature on this model and what year it actually came out in! The hub says '66, the frame says '71 or '63 ? The pedals say late 60's to me.  The shifter as well. 26" wheels. Thoughts?! Thanks! Doug

The subject bicycle is a 1971 Galaxie Sports, with the Sports designation indicating the 3 speed model. The Galaxie wasn't introduced until 1971 and the serial number location is indicative of 1969+. Prior to that, 1960s models had the serial number on the rear dropout. Normally, we'd have to consider the possibilty of a 1972 model manufactured in late 1971 but we know that's not the case because it lacks the fork and pedal reflectors of the 1972 version. Also, the 1972 version switched from the top tube mounted stick shift, to the handlebar mounted trigger shift. MSRP was $74.95.

Thank you T-Mar!  Great info! I guess the rear hub date had me thrown off seeing that the bike was hardly used and most likely didn't require a hub swap!
