Chain wheel lock nut

Hi,

Just wondering what the size of the lock nut is holding the chain wheel on the drive side of the crank. I think it's 1 3/8" but wanted to be sure. The wrench needs to be offset too I believe. Was there a tool made for this by CCM. If so does anyone have an extra they would like to sell?

Thank you, Daryl

Finding a CCM purpose built tool for removal of this nut is next to impossible.  My solution was to buy a 1 and three eights socket and then grind down half of each side flat and locate an offset  fixed wrench to fit the socket sides, then you can remove the shallow shoulder nut at this point.

That's a great solution John. I think I may have to do the same.

Thank you!

Thanks FreeLander, but that's not my solution. It's one sent to me by Roadworthy.

That is a very good solution.

I have used another trick for many years. Long ago I bought a long handled 1 3/8 wrench with a box end. When I tried it on the nut on the CCM crank, it would slip off. I then put the wrench on the nut, placed a number of large washers on the crank so that they would go up against the wrench, and tightened the Left Hand threaded cone to hold the washers and wrench securely. This kept the wrench from slipping off the sprocket nut, allowing for its removal with the wrench. Once the wrench starts turning the nut, the washers can all be removed, and the sprocket nut can also be completely removed. I must have removed at least 20 sprockets using this method.
