C.P.C - Continental Products Corporation, Marieville , Quebec

With much appreciated help from ‘T Mar’, we were able to research and discover the mystery behind the company, C.P.C. that manufactured the child’s sidewalk bicycle in the attached photo.

C.P.C. -  Continental Products Corporation was established in February of 1946 in Marieville, Quebec.

In 1946 C.P.C. constructed a new manufacturing plant for the manufacture of tricycles, wagons and toys for children.

The facility was modest in size, just over 13,000 square feet (190 x 70).

Less than a year later (1947) C.P.C. merged with Southern Industries Ltd, which specialized in industrial water pumps.

I believe the merger may have been more of an acquisition since there is no reference to the original C.P.C. products.

In February 1949 a notice of sale was posted in ‘La Press’ a Montreal newspaper which listed

machinery, tooling, templates and patterns for tricycles at the C.P.C. facility.

In 1961 Southern Industries was acquired by Crane Company.

I believe the products from C.P.C for young children was short lived and may have

been only manufactured in the year of 1946 and maybe 1947.
