Flyte find! (and first post)

Hey Everyone;

Just like to say hi and and show my latest project bike.  Never having worked on a vintage bike and knowing my parents had an old CCM hanging in the rafters - I was thinking maybe 50's vintage that I could build into a path racer replica.  What I found after a little research was a '37 Flyte (I can't make out the serial # - too many layers of paint, the fork is non-chromed and original paint is the cream colour.  Mechanically it seems sound, headset bearings were in better shape than most I've seen that come out of bikes just a couple years old.  Saddle, wheels, grips, rear fender all appear to be non-stock items - I have the original wheels as well.  Apparently it was purchased new by my great uncle and when he passed away my parents brought it home and there it's remained.

My plan is to blast, prime and paint and create an occasional rider. Not concourse quality but functional.  Even toying with the idea of adding drops (like the original blueprints) and riding it on the milton velodrome if the BB is high enough - it is a little heavier than my current track bike...

That being said, before I get out my deadblow mallet, how do I get the crank arms off...?  Thanks.

Nice!

To take the cranks off loosen the crank nuts, left hand thread on non sproke side. Use a small puller or try and tap the crank near the nuts with brass hammer or something that will nut mar the finish. Good luck

this is how I took the cranks off a 1937 CCM I had. and one of the nuts used to secure the cranks is reverse threaded... I can't remember which side but one is reverse thread.

WOW not many of them hanging around in rafters. Good luck with the resto.
