Help with identifying this ?

Just was given this seemingly old CCM.

A lady in her 50's said it was her grand fathers?  She was actually contemplating putting it in the garbage.

The rear  frame is bent, so I am not even sure it is salvageable.

Serial number has some fancy scribing , so it is either  4 V 7 4 0 7 or   4 N 7 4 0 7.

I will post a pic of it.

If someone can tell me the model and year and if the frame could potential be straightened.

Thx

Yes, 1945. There is no "V" serial number. You can Google CCM serial numbers, or search on this site. A good bike shop could probably straighten the frame but that will co$t. Another solution is to keep your eyes open for another CCM from the same time period and make one bike from the best parts of both.

The rear hub looks unusual. Not like any hub I recognize.  Is it possible the frame was bent to accommodate it?

I have 4 bikes with a V in the serial number, I've dated them all 1949. I agree with the above bike being 1945 judging by the decal badge. That is a nasty bend in the frame, fixing it will certainly affect the paint and be pricey. I also agree with trying to find another frame and do a parts swap.

Thanks all for the great feedback.
as for the rear hub. I could lot find a name on it..yet as it is quite gummed up.
i did find a series of numbers on it not sure if that will help identify it.
87 10 18.

I attached a few pics of the rear hub.

Karl, in 2015 I started a forum thread titled "Adding V code Serial Number to Chart" LOL! - When you wrote 1949 it rang a bell. A senior moment for me I guess.

I thought the hub looked a lot different in the first photo but maybe it was a hub shiner or something that confused me. The new pictures you posted makes it look like standard equipment
