My Bike is a 1948 CCM ?

I believe it is a  1948 CCM roadster . It said  CCM 37 MADE IN CANADA pat 1937 on the rear hub . The ser# (  xTxxxx )

It appears to be re-painted along time ago. And the seat i fixed reupholsterd .Other then that it appears to be all original. It rides great and is very soild . It has 28 inch tires. It also has a very cool front green reflector. I am Not selling it . But was wondering  what it would be worth ? the high market and on the low end ?.And is it a Roadster ? . Thank you for your time.

Hi Lloyd, welcome to the site. I haven't been on the CCM Facebook page. I have found answers to almost all my questions on this site and have managed to buy parts and trade bikes as well.

It's hard to determine an exact value as there are many variables. A couple of years ago I bought a pair of maroon coloured "his and hers" 1947 CCM roadsters. They were in rideable condition with new tires and tubes, greased bearings, and most importantly original paint with most of the pinstriping intact. I paid $250 for the pair, which I considered a good deal. Using that purchase as a guide, I would say yours (with a repaint) is worth something like $100 to $150. It will depend on where you are selling it too. I spoke with a member living in a smaller northern communnity and he said people had a real aversion to going above the $100 mark for any old bike. The $200 mark might be a price point barrier in larger cities but I'm speculating at this point. I've paid in the $300 range for really nice original paint bikes with the original saddle, pedals, grips, etc.  Special bikes like the Motorbike model with double top tube and fork truss, or the racing bike CCM Flyer etc. command more money.  Rare wood rim models sometimes much more. -Brian R. in Toronto.

p.s. The chain guard is not original. I don't think it's from CCM. I believe a chainguard was an extra cost option on the men's bike so many bikes have none at all, and on yours it would have been painted white to match the fenders, not chrome.

Thank you Brian R  for all the info. And your time . smiley

No problem Lloyd. I hope you weren't too bummed out by my appraisal. I do like your bike - the saddle is correct and the chrome is excellent! I think the important thing is to enjoy riding it.

It seems your bike is missing a head tube badge. Why don't you ask around on this site and see if someone has an extra one they could sell to you? I will attach a photo of the badge they used in 1949. I'm sure this is the same type they used in 1948 (although I don't think your head tube was painted gold originally). -Brian R.
