Reproduction Head badges!!

So awhile back i looked into getting reproduction ccm badges made, i looked at 2 methods. Making a sand cast and stamping out full blown re pops, other method is acid ethicing. Ive gotten prices to do minimum 100 runs, i have a mint 1940'S round badge that i used for the pricing and as a template. Would anyone be interested in buying them if i went and did one of these runs? Its not fucking cheap to do this and if theres a big market id go ahead and do the stamped run.

This is my quote to make the stamped badges. Cost to make die $875.00, 1st copy $185. Quantity of 20- $75.00 each. So my total to make 20 replicas is $2560, if i wanted to break even id have to sell them for $128 each, or just swallow the die cost and sell them for $75.00 to be nice, im sure if  did a bigger Qty the price would drop lower than $75.00 each.

Acid etch is a bit cheaper by only $100, but its not the authentic way of reproducing.

Let me know, if anyone has a better idea on what badge needs to be brought back to life  lets here it. I only have a mint 1940's round badge, you guys know the one its the metal colour and has the ccm logo in it.

SORRRY minimum 20 not 100, ill check and see what the 100 price would be.

I toyed with the idea of making repro badges too but the final cost would need to be around $30 each to be reasonable or else you can find an original for the same price or less.

I presume the CCM badge you refer to is the ones pictured.  This shape is post war until about 1965.

if anbody has any badges like the third one in the above photo but in aluminium id be happy to purchase 2. It is really costly to make repros so i wont.

I think your wise not to go the route of making repro head badges. At 128.00 to break even you would have a very expence head badge for your self. In time I would think a good one will turn up.

If you talk to Rob Morrison, he has had the diamond shape CCM badge already duplicated for his Flyte Rod by a supplier in the US with favourable results which I believe he has documented in previous archives on Vintage CCM?I do know that his pricing was more than fair.Sorry I can not tell you at this time who he dealt with but I will find out.Of course nothing beats a nice original!Have a look back to see Robs bike c/w badge.Nostalgia.net is also a impressive badge repro company with some amazing colour etchings worth a look.I think there was a die made so that is where the initial cost is so it should not take much , base material being the key component..Rob can enlighten us as to how it all shakes down.More white stuff tonight,Best Regards Jamie        Go Canada
