Rusted out delivery frame - curious of value

The delivery bike is my all time favourite and one just came up in my local kijiji. It's just the frame and fork and is very rusty. The seller is looking for offers but I have no idea of the value and curious what you all think. If I was to throw out a number, it would be $40-50 in the condition it's in and since it's not complete. Am I way off base? I don't want to insult the seller but I don't want to break the bank on a major project either.   Pics attached

I would say it is worth much more than 50.00   Likely just the basket is worth more than 50.00

After a sandblasting it will be incredible and look new

Others may have different opinons on price

Thanks Duomatic.  I don't know the value of this at all so really appreciate the input.  My friend was given a CCM Delivery bike for free last year and it's been driving me nuts because I've been looking for for years.  They don't turn up very often in my neck of the woods which is why I'd like to get this one.  just need to figure where to start with an offer.

You can call the guy and talk with him.

Who knows, he may take 50.00

Give it a try. Good liuck

If this is something that you have wanted for some time, it is definitely worth buying. Some people might pay quite a bit just for the carrier (perhaps $200). But who knows what your local situation will be.

This frame will need a lot of work to make it look like a CCM Delivery bike. Of course for authenticity, it will need the 3/16" chain and sprockets and the wheels with the 12 gauge spokes. These will be difficult to fund. If you just want to make it look something like a Delivery, you could use the regular 1/8" chain and sprockets along with the normal 15 gauge spoked wheels.

Good Luck!

I sold mine on KIJIJI and it took a long time. It was a 1 9 3 7  original paint with rare advertising panel. Pulled 475. and was lucky to get that! A collector of service station signs  planned on repainting it on a Red Indian theme. Shame really.

I tried to upload a photo but.... too big... What?

Does anyone know if that is the correct fork for the delivery? If so Jay what year is the delivery? Do you know John as the top of fork doesn't look right.

Correct fork same as the one on my Mid 50's  delivery

Jay what year is this frame. The serial # would be stamped on the top of the seat post.

Thanks for the replies.  It's a bit of a drive to get to the frame so I won't get to see it until this weekend.  I'll get the serial number then and give an update.

i've heard the same thing about the front carrier being very pricey .

The rest of the parts should be easy to find saw a set of wheels on here a while ago

crankset should be no problem .

I have a  33  and have had a  crazy low offer on it .

I guess there are hundreds of them in  Quebec  not rare at all and bad riders  not worth anything wink

I picked it up this weekend for $40.  I haven't really had a chance to give it a thorough inspection yet though, just a quick once over.  The frame and basket are solid and straight.  It's been painted a few times and the forks were red at some point so I don't know if they are original and painted or came off another bike.   Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a back story on this particular bike which I was hoping for.  The guy I got it from got it with a pile a scrap that he purchased.

I can't find a serial number anywhere.  Could be because of the layers of paint but I don't even see a slight indent to show the stamping.  Again though, i only gave it a quick once-over and put more time into inspecting it this week.

- no headbadge

- One of the arms on the fork is slightly bent so if I'm able to determine that they're not original, I will just swap them out for something in better condition.

- There is a white pin stripe running the entire length of the seat tube.  Do any of you know if that was an option or was it added later?

So because of the amount of rust and multiple layers of paint, I'm going to bring it down to the metal and get it painted by a pro.  The plan is to build it up with what components I already have and ones that are easy to find for now so it's rideable and then I'll swap out for original components as i come across them.

Cleaned off some paint and found the serial number. Starts with an X so 1935

Good score   I had a heck of a time getting the front rack off of mine  as the posts that go into the frame

get out of alighnment from having had heavy loads put on them   suggest you get some wd-40 on them right away

and keep soaking them down .

You are also probably going to get bombarded buy people wanting to buy the rack of you .

cheers B.
