1947 CCM spray painted
Serial number 6S2649. So this is for year 1947.
The whole bicycle has been painted over. I imagine that the original paint is under the repainting.
The headbadge was damaged when the basket mounting rubbed agains the head tube. I have since adjusted the basket mounting.
Clipper tires are for an F13 rim. Modern 700c tires fit onto the rim.
Riding this bicycle it will pull to the left. Upon inspection the front wheel is okay, the fork is okay, the head tube is not parallel to the seat tube. There is no apparent collision damage to the frame.
If the seat tube is vertical, the top of the head tube is tilted 1 or 2 degrees to one O'clock.
Was this a fault in manufacturing? Did this occur on other frames from this era?
With ignorance, levers, brute force and no alignment jigs or equipment, I managed to slightly over correct the alignment of the head tube relative to the seat tube. The top tube paint shows signs of stress.
The steering has improved. But you cannot ride with no hands.
