Identify/Info 1933(?) CCM Flyer

G'day all,

I'm trying to solidly identify the year of my fathers old CCM Flyer which I have been told is a 1933 model. I have searched all over and can not find the serial number.  If anyone can help me out or has information on this bike it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

David Preston

Love the bars.

Lightly stamped on top of head tube lug, into which the top bar fits.

I believe I have found the serial, however it is far too faint to discern. Any other thoughts?

Take a photo, then edit/enhance.

Hello,

The crank arms may provide a clue. The earlier Flyer crank arms were  heavy and more substantial than the more recent crank arms. Their cross section was close to a square. Perhaps in 1935 or 1936, they were changed and became much lighter, with a cross section that was cut away on the edges. Your Flyer seems to have the newer crank arms, this would give a manufacturing date between late 1935 and 1942. This holds true only if the crank arms are original. The sprocket has been changed from the original CCM type to, possibly, a Williams sprocket. If the wheels are original to the bike, the hubs may provide a clue. Earler Flyer hubs may only have CCM on them. The newer hubs may be stamped CCM Prolite. Aside from the serial number, these are the only things that I can think of. The bike has been changed in many ways over the years.

It's possible it has been repainted and the extra paint is obscuring the serial number. You may have to carefully remove some of the paint to read the number clearly. Only the letter is needed to determine the year.

Thank you for everyones comments/input. All greatly appreciated.
