Hi Everyone.
I was doing some research on another bicycling topic and I came across this assesment of the Canadian bicycle trade. It comes from a USA publication "The Cycle Age and Trade Review", February 17, 1898.
There is a list of Canadian Bicycle Companies for before the time of Canadian Cycle and Motor (CCM). Here is a short excerpt:
Hi Everyone
This bike is a recent find, definitely not a CCM bicycle and being marked Made in Czechoslovakia it's not Canadian made either. From what I could find on Google it was made by a company called Favourit. In a letter I read, apparently the Canadian headquarters for the company were in Ottawa right beside the RCMP headquarters. It was suspected they may have done some cold war spying, an interesting tale.
Hi, I am working on a old double bar, I think it's a CCM, I am having trouble getting the bottom bracket a part any tips would be appreciated.

With much appreciated help from ‘T Mar’, we were able to research and discover the mystery behind the company, C.P.C.
For reasons not related to logic, practicality or financial good sense, I recently purchased a tandem bicycle. I do not beilieve it is a CCM, judging from the manufacturer name on the brake I believe it is likely american made. I am hoping someone can provide more information on it. The seller thought the bike was from the 1920s, searching online I found photos of similar bikes likely from that time period.
I just acquired what I believe to be a disguised CCM badged for the Hudson's Bay store chain. It's badged and stickered as a Baycrest "Tempest" 10 speed in an attractive metallic silver with moustache bars, stem shifters, Sugino crank set and Shimano group set including an RS rear der. The RS rear der dates this bike somewhere in the early 1980's. The whole bike looks to me to be very CCM-ish. Is there anyone out there that's familiar with the HBC's buying practices for their bikes ?? Can someone clear up this mystery for me ??
Hi from Wiinipeg ; I am trying to find more info about a bike my old neighbour passed along to me. I think it was made by CCM but does not have the signature logo on the cranks arms and there is no name plate, CCM marking on the brake asist on back hub, Serial # 619077, front hub markings - PhilipsCeltonia, all steel, England, Please see pics.

Does anyone know anything about this bike? Bought it a couple years ago, with no real plans for it. Looks mostly original except one of the wheels must of been changed due to the different styles. I was thinking late 1800s or early 1900s, but not really sure since it's older than most of the stuff I deal with. I do have a couple other photos if that would help with identification. If anyone had any info that would be great.
Thanks
Erik
My search for Vintage Velo Inc has found only dead-ends. If you are the person behind that name, can you contact me please?
Alternatively, if you are the current owner of this Werlich men's balloon tire bike, can you either contact me or post the bike's serial number here please?
