1948 Sunshine Waterloo Co bike

Hello everyone,

My 16 year old son is buying the bike noted in the subject line. He would like to remove the pedal brakes and add hand brakes. Is this even possible? If it is what should I be looking to get. I have attached a picture of the ad. The bike looks like it has all or most of it's original parts including the fenders.

MODEL NO 65

This is the oldest bike I have. It's been suspended from my ceilng since I acquired it a couple of summers ago. I just took it down today to take some photos to share. It's badged MODEL NO 65 on the crown of the fork. The serial number is 140387, and the following is written on the rear hub:Canada Cycle & Motor Co. Limited. Toronto, Canada. Hercules Patent Pending.

Eaton Glider

Hi all. I'm looking for some help and knowledge on a pair of Eaton Gliders.

Hub identification

I'm pretty sure this is a Raleigh hub but can't seem to find a similar image to confirm on the off chance it is not. Has anyone seen this stamp before? Thank you, Daryl

Replacement Ball Bearings

Hi,  I am working on some bike projects, and was wondering what people recommend for replacement ball bearings.  Bearings Canada sells them online, and they are quite inexpensive.  They sell carbon steel, chrome steel and stainless bearings.  I asked the company to tell me what the hardest and softest metals are, and the response was that "they are all about the same."  Obviously, I don't want to use bearings that are harder than the steel of the bike components.

William Hyslop Died in Pandemic

...not this pandemic but the last one, 101 years ago today. He was 48 years old.

Venture bicycle manufacturer?

This is a Venture Aero Formula 112 and it may have been sold be Zellers or another department store.

It has some decent components on it like Shimano Adamas AX crankset, pedals, downtube shifters and front deraileur

Simano Tourney alloy center pull brake calipers, Suntour 6sp. freewheel and rear deraileur.

It has chrome bars, seatpost, hubs, and 27"rims.

It seems like a well made bike. I don't know if the components are original or not.

I originally planned to fix it up and flip it but It rides so well and fits me so I will keep it.
