1925 CCM Flyer

That image actually comes form the Bicycle Specialties website and was posted as a 1925 CCM Flyer.

Is Image 6 on page 2 in the Gallery a CCM Flyer?  My 1934 racer is identical but I was told by Mike Barry of Bicycle Specialties (and formerly Mariposa Bikes) that it is not a Flyer.  The visible difference is the tip of each front fork blade, which is merely the tube flattened, as on regular bikes; the Flyer used a forged insert in a tapered blade.  Probably the Flyer had lighter stronger chrome-moly tubing as well.  My bike currently weighs 33 pounds, but is fitted with Sturmey-Archer drum brakes and epicyclic three-speed, in place of its fixed wheel and no brakes, in order to deal with the long hills in the Yukon.

Mine has its original Brooks B5N saddle, and came with steel wheels which rusted through.  The original Dunlop Speedway tyres are red(!) and because they contain no carbon black, have turned to gummy mush.  Because the original handlebars and stem had cracks, it now has replicas; Major Taylor bars are commercially available but the stem had to be fabricated at a machine shop.   Pedals are the original Torrington Number 8, without toe cages.
